Lately everyones been asking me how I can read people so well, its really quite simple really, DD calls it the "elusive obvious" ... I call it power dynamics. Reading people ... u don't really need 1 day, u can easily pick it up within the first 5 min of interaction. Why? Believe it or not, humans unconsciously make around 30+ generalizations about someone ... social status, behaviour, provider power, etc. within the first 30 secs.
Brings me back to DD's point: Attraction is not a choice.
When I talk to someone, I really don't care what comes out of their mouth. Usually I talk to them about something thats completely off topic/off the scale no one has ever asked them b4.... so it destroys the whole "preparation" persona.
I dive right into the three essentials: 1) Eye contact 2) body language 3) tone
People tell me, "u don't even know me". U're right, I don't need to know you. U're body tells me what kind of person u are already, whether u like it or not.
Case and example, examine carefully the power dynamics of 1 guy 1 girl walking down a hallway. U can really tell if he likes her or not when u CAREFULLY look.
1) Whos walking first: whos in command
2) Whos trying to catch up: whos trying to pace himself/herself with the other person.
3) The body language: Whos confident, whos taking the lead.
4) Eye contact: Whos looking at the ground, whos looking forward... whos in control of himself/herself. Whos giving u that defensive "shes my gf" look? usually means jealousy, insecurity.
5) Way of walking: Whos shifting weight? Whos walking with confidence?
6) Whos carrying more baggage ON their hands (books, etc) The more books u carry, the more unsure u are of what u're doing, I mean wtf would u carry so much shit?
7) If one person stops and talk to someone, does the other person stop and wait? Or move on ? Shows independency or "leaning"?
8) Is there a conversation going on? Kinda sucks if no one is talking ... haha
9) Arms crossed? body "closed off"? distress, worried, insecure about something.
SO much to read... haha. Have fun. |
